There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings.

That's the way we "honor" roll ....

I know...corny.  Anyway .... all's well in the academic department in our household.  All three kids did great.  Jessie made honor roll this semester after struggling with Algebra this year.   Ugh!  I was horrible in math and needed a tutor on and off throughout high school so I know how frustrating it can be.  She really pulled it together and earned a B ... we're very proud of her (as usual).  Sean got straight A's !  Drew was most improved and received all satisfactory marks .... so as a celebration dinner the kids decided that they would like to go to Outback.  We haven't been there for a while so it was nice to go back and enjoy a delish meal with the kiddos.

Don't be a bully ....

Love ... just LOVE the kid's school and the teachers there ... but, today I had to send an e-mail to Sean's teacher and gym teacher because he was verbally bullied in gym class today by the 4th graders.  It seems that the 4th graders are now taking gym with the 3rd graders as preparation for "Field Day".  Let's see how they respond to this incident.  I'm hoping that they take it seriously and inform the other class that this type of behavior is hurtful and won't be tolerated.  Sean is such a good and thoughtful kid and I don't want stuff like this having an adverse effect on him.

A baby is the BEST mother's day gift!

Yep!  May 9th 2004 was Mother's Day and I got the most perfect present in a warm, bundled, wrapped little package.  Just the right size!  No need to send it back!
Flash forward to 2010 and we're once again celebrating Drew's 6th birthday and Mother's Day.   Since this is Drew's first year of T-ball, ... baseball was the theme.  He's very excited about playing baseball this year and his favorite position is either pitcher (although they don't actually pitch) or first base because those two spots seem to see the most action.  Apparently, he wants to be a baseball player when he grows up.  Let's see ... I have a feeling this kid is gonna want to be A LOT of things when he grows up!

I love my kids ....

I just have to get that out there.  Ah!  That feels better.  In all the hustle and bustle of life like Sean and Jess's guitar lessons (and make ups!), Drew's T-ball games, running around to get the shopping done and the laundry washed, folded and put away, dinner cooked, etc, etc, etc ... I want to take the time out to say I LOVE YOU.

I'm sure that there are times that I'm tired and just plain ole busy trying to keep the household running ... and I don't want them to wonder if they did anything wrong.  If anything ... they've been so good ... doing everything right!!  Maybe they don't understand it now, but when they get older and have a family and responsibilities of their own they will realize just how much I loved them when it seemed that every day life gets in the way.

Or ... they can come here and read this blog.   :)

Take me out to the ballgame .....

Drew had his first T-ball game on Jess's birthday party so his cousins got to go see him play.  Well, at least that was the plan, but by the time we got the entire gang assembled and out the door ... we arrived JUST as the game ended.  Oh well ... there's always next time!  It was still a lot of fun to see Drew dressed up in his Angels uniform with bat, ball and glove in hand.  He really seems to love it and claims he now wants to be a baseball player when he grows up.  More pics to follow ... when I actually make it there on time to see him play!

Happy 14th Jess!

Celebrated another birthday with family.  We're so fortunate to have so many family members ... grandparents, great grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles join us in wishing Jess a very happy birthday.  We love you lots!

Wicked Good!!

Defying Gravity (sung by Elphaba and Glinda)

I'm through accepting limits
cause someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know!
Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love I guess I've lost
Well, if that's love
It comes at much too high a cost!
I'd sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I'm defying gravity
And you can't pull me down.

Tix to Broadway's Wicked was part of Jess's 14th Birthday gift from Mommy and Daddy. The show was amazing .... I laughed, I cried, I was moved by the story of a sensitive & misunderstood green-skinned girl struggling to fit in. Common themes in life of friendships, betrayal and prejudice. Kevin and I try to give each of our kids their special, alone time just with Mommy and Daddy and I do think that Jess enjoyed it .... with a small smile, she commented "This is what it must feel like to be an only child."
