There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings.

Take me out to the ballgame .....

Drew had his first T-ball game on Jess's birthday party so his cousins got to go see him play.  Well, at least that was the plan, but by the time we got the entire gang assembled and out the door ... we arrived JUST as the game ended.  Oh well ... there's always next time!  It was still a lot of fun to see Drew dressed up in his Angels uniform with bat, ball and glove in hand.  He really seems to love it and claims he now wants to be a baseball player when he grows up.  More pics to follow ... when I actually make it there on time to see him play!

Happy 14th Jess!

Celebrated another birthday with family.  We're so fortunate to have so many family members ... grandparents, great grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles join us in wishing Jess a very happy birthday.  We love you lots!

Wicked Good!!

Defying Gravity (sung by Elphaba and Glinda)

I'm through accepting limits
cause someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know!
Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love I guess I've lost
Well, if that's love
It comes at much too high a cost!
I'd sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I'm defying gravity
And you can't pull me down.

Tix to Broadway's Wicked was part of Jess's 14th Birthday gift from Mommy and Daddy. The show was amazing .... I laughed, I cried, I was moved by the story of a sensitive & misunderstood green-skinned girl struggling to fit in. Common themes in life of friendships, betrayal and prejudice. Kevin and I try to give each of our kids their special, alone time just with Mommy and Daddy and I do think that Jess enjoyed it .... with a small smile, she commented "This is what it must feel like to be an only child."

Most Improved Student - Way to go Drew!

So proud of Drew for being chosen as the most improved student in his Kindergarten class. I have to confess that I felt very guilty because he apparently wasn't adequately prepared, and I felt that I hadn't done my job as a good mom. It's not that I didn't try to get him to read and write while he was younger, ... it's just that he wasn't interested. No worries though ... I just worked with Drew a little more and in no time he caught up and actually surpassed a lot of the kids in his class. I'm so happy that he loves school, his teacher and classmates .... he's a bright, happy, kind little boy and I love him so.

Silly Bandz ... why didn't I think of it??

They're all the craze up and down the East coast ... they certainly are in my house. It all started with Jess, in her 8th grade class - but it soon caught on and now Sean and Drew can't seem to accumulate enough of them. We've bought all kinds, ... rock band themes (guitars, microphones, drums), animals, stars, the alphabet. My kids stack them up their arms and trade them at school. Drew claims that in his Kindergarten class his teacher told the students that they can wear their Silly Bandz to school, but they can't take them off their wrists. Apparently, they're a rubbery, colorful distraction!
